What is MCP and why does FocusBox support it?

Model Context Protocol is an open standard from Anthropic that lets AI assistants like Claude talk to external apps. With MCP, your AI can read your FocusBox tasks and create new ones — without copy and paste.

Which AI assistants can I use this with?

Claude (Desktop and claude.ai on the web), Cursor, ChatGPT desktop, and any tool that supports MCP. Claude completes the OAuth handshake automatically; for other clients you paste an API key.

Do I need a paid plan?

No. The MCP connector works with the free FocusBox plan, subject to the same task limits as the web app.

Is my data sent to Anthropic or OpenAI?

No. Your AI client connects directly to focusbox.io. Tool calls are authenticated with your account and nothing is proxied via Anthropic or OpenAI servers.

Does it work with the FocusBox mobile app?

Yes. The MCP server reads and writes the same tasks your iOS app sees. Tasks created via Claude appear in My Tasks and Today on your phone in real time.

How do I revoke access?

For Claude (OAuth), disconnect the connector in Claude's settings. For Bearer API keys, rotate the key from /account/api-keys.
